Jasmeet's Temple
In class we were given a partner. I was paired up with Jasmeet Kaur. We had to pick something intersecting about ourselves to do a project about. Jasmeet is an Indian Sikh.
When she told me this is what I would be doing a story about, I freaked out. I don't know what a Sikh is. I knew I was going to have to ask her questions. So, I wrote down about 20 I knew she would be able to answer. But I had no idea what to ask because I didn't understand her religion. I showed up on a Sunday and took footage. I made sure to get a lot because I had no idea what direction my video was going to take.
I learned so much. For one, your white balance is so important. It might be a pain to adjust it each location you go to But in the end, it will be worth it. For both me and Jasmeet's project we ran into a few bumps. When I went to interview Jasmeet, my audio cord was broken. When Jasmeet came to film my soccer practice, it got cancelled. We had to learn to be flexible.
Next time, I might look up some questions about the religion on the internet. That would help me understand the religion better. Still, I liked how much footage I was able to get.
